Building of the Year 2018, Award of the CKAIT and the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic for exemplary and sensitive rehabilitation of a historical building

Palac Spork’s original design was created for the Anglo-Czechoslovak bank in 1926 by the famous Czech architect Josef Gocar and is now a national monument. Palac Spork was bought in 2011 by Petr Nemec in public bidding. The architectural concept is based on unifying the heights of the joining buildings. Fiala built a garden on the rooftop, connected the buildings with decorative ceramic roofing and livened up the balconies and terraces that were previously inaccessible. He unveiled the supporting structures of the building in the interiors, restored valuable plastering, furniture and other elements. Esteemed law firms and offices now reside in Spork, e.g. Dentons, Qminers, Goodman, Swix Biopharma, SIA restaurant and Cerveny Jelen pub. In 2019, the SEBRE company sold Spork to Generali Real Estate.
